Call for Symposium Proposals

Call for Symposium Proposals

The congress program includes 9 symposia: 2 proposed by the local organizing committee and 7 proposed by SIF Members. At least two of the symposia will be selected from JUNIOR proposals.

Each symposium will be held by 4 speakers and lasts 80 minutes. Symposia must be linked to one of the following topics: Cellular and Molecular Physiology; Neurophysiology; Physiology of Metabolism; Environmental Physiology; Muscle Physiology; Physiology of Organs and Systems. The symposium proponent(s) and at least two of the speakers must be SIF members in good standing with current membership dues. Additionally, speakers must be affiliated with different Institutions. If the proponent(s) serve as Chairs without being a speaker, they may have the same affiliation as one of the speakers.

Proposals will be prioritized based on scientific excellence, with additional criteria being gender balance, inclusion of international speakers, and the presence of speakers under 40 years of age at the time of the congress.

For JUNIOR symposia, the proponent(s) and all speakers must be under 40 years of age. The birthdate of each participant must be provided when submitting the proposal.

Symposium proposals should include the following:

  • The selected symposium theme, chosen from the list above;
  • The symposium title (max 150 characters, including spaces);
  • A brief summary of the symposium topic (max 1200 characters, including spaces);
  • The name of the proponent(s), along with their affiliation and email address;
  • The names of the speakers, along with their affiliations and email addresses;
  • The title of each speaker's communication (max 150 characters per speaker, including spaces);
  • A brief description of each speaker's contribution (max 600 characters per speaker, including spaces).

Proposals can only be submitted using the online form, available here from 20 March 2025 to 7 May 2025. The SIF Board will review and select the symposia, notifying proponents of the outcome by 15 May 2025.

By 30 May 2025, proponent(s) and speakers of selected symposia must register for the Congress and pay the fee; speakers are also required to submit individual abstracts. The proponent is responsible for notifying speakers of the selection outcome and ensuring that all speakers of selected symposia meet the registration (including payment of registration fees) and abstract submission requirements.
